A.
ACV
Annual contract value. The average yearly value of a customer contract, excluding one-off fees.
Adoption rate
The share of intended users actively using a system or feature in a period, such as sales reps logging activity in the CRM.
AEO
Answer engine optimisation. Making your brand findable and quotable in AI answers from tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, as well as in search. HubSpot offers an AEO tool in beta that tracks brand visibility in AI answers.
Agent accuracy
The share of AI agent answers or actions that are correct and within policy, checked against approved knowledge and human review.
Agent Builder
HubSpot's tool for building custom AI agents and automations on one canvas, without code. Agents can be triggered on a schedule, by contact updates, by webhooks or by integrations, and consume HubSpot Credits.
Agent Hub
HubSpot's home for every AI agent running your go-to-market: see what is live, check performance, switch agents on and build custom ones. Included for Starter, Professional and Enterprise customers.
AI agent
Software that completes a task on its own within rules you set, such as answering a customer or researching an account, and hands off to a person when it should.
AI growth operating system
Azend's term for running strategy, CRM and data, AI agents and growth marketing as one system on HubSpot, measured against one revenue number.
ARR
Annual recurring revenue. The yearly value of subscription or contracted recurring revenue in force at a point in time, excluding one-off fees.
Attribution
The method for crediting revenue to the campaigns, channels and touchpoints that produced it, so budget follows what works.
Audit trail coverage
The share of system changes and customer data actions that are logged with who did what and when.
Average deal size
The total value of deals won in a period divided by the number of deals won.
Average handle time
The average time spent resolving a customer interaction, including follow-up work.
B.
Billing on schedule
The share of invoices issued on the agreed date and at the agreed amount.
Bookings
The value of contracts signed in a period, recorded when the customer commits, which may be earlier than when revenue is recognised.
Breeze Assistant
HubSpot's conversational AI assistant, the entry point for asking questions, building agents in natural language and assigning work to agents.
Business continuity
The ability to keep critical systems and services running through outages, vendor changes or staff turnover.
Buying group
The set of people at one customer who decide on a purchase together, for example a sponsor, a user, finance and IT. B2B pipelines track the group, not just one contact.
C.
CAC
Customer acquisition cost. The total sales and marketing cost of winning new customers in a period, divided by the number of new customers won in that period.
CAC payback
The time it takes for the gross margin earned from a new customer to repay the cost of acquiring that customer. Usually expressed in months.
Cancellation rate
The share of bookings, appointments or orders that are cancelled before they are fulfilled.
CES
Customer effort score. A survey measure of how easy it was for a customer to get what they needed.
Churn rate
The share of customers, or of recurring revenue, lost during a period, measured against the customers or revenue held at the start of that period.
CLV
Customer lifetime value. The total revenue, or gross margin, a business expects to earn from a customer over the whole relationship. Also called LTV.
Compliance risk
Exposure to fines, breaches or audit findings from not meeting data protection and industry rules in each market.
Conversion rate
The share of people or records that move from one stage to the next, such as visitor to lead or lead to customer.
Cost to serve
The full cost of supporting a customer or account across service, delivery, systems and people. Used to see which customers, channels and markets are profitable.
CPA
Cost per acquisition. Spend divided by the number of conversions, such as customers or bookings, that the spend produced.
CPL
Cost per lead. Marketing spend in a period divided by the number of leads generated in that period.
CRM migration
Moving customer records, history and processes from one CRM to another. The data moves quickly. Rebuilding automation, integrations and reports takes the time.
Cross-border transfer
Moving personal data out of the country where it was collected. HubSpot hosts data in the EU, Canada, Australia and the US, so for Southeast Asian companies a move to HubSpot is one.
Cross-sell rate
The share of customers who buy an additional product or service from the same company.
CSAT
Customer satisfaction score. A survey measure, usually asked straight after an interaction, of how satisfied a customer was. Reported as the share of satisfied responses.
CTR
Click-through rate. Clicks divided by impressions for an ad, email or search result.
Custom object
A record type you define in HubSpot beyond the standard ones, such as projects, bookings or policies. Available on HubSpot's Enterprise tiers.
Customer Agent
HubSpot's AI agent that resolves customer enquiries across chat, email, voice and messaging apps, trained on your knowledge base and CRM, and hands off to people with full context.
D.
Data Agent
HubSpot's AI agent that answers questions with insights from your CRM, calls and documents.
Data Hub
HubSpot's data management product: combine data from other systems, clean and standardise it, and build datasets and reports across marketing, sales and service.
Data Privacy Act
The Philippines' Data Privacy Act of 2012, enforced by the National Privacy Commission. Reportable breaches must be notified within 72 hours.
Data Protection Officer
The person accountable for an organisation's data protection compliance. Mandatory in Singapore, and in Malaysia above thresholds such as 20,000 data subjects.
Data quality
How complete, accurate, unique and current the records in a system are, usually tracked through duplicate, missing-field and validity rates.
Deal slippage
Deals whose expected close date moves into a later period. High slippage weakens forecast accuracy.
DSO
Days sales outstanding. The average number of days it takes to collect payment after a sale is invoiced.
E.
EBIT
Earnings before interest and tax. Operating profit, the figure many boards use to judge whether a programme such as AI has moved the business.
Expansion revenue
Additional revenue from existing customers through upsell, cross-sell or higher usage.
F.
First contact resolution
The share of customer requests resolved in the first interaction, with no follow-up needed.
First response time
The time between a customer raising a request and the first reply from a person or agent.
Forecast accuracy
How closely the revenue forecast for a period matches the revenue actually closed in it. A test of pipeline data quality and deal stage discipline.
Funnel
The stages a buyer passes through, from first awareness to purchase, used to measure conversion and find where buyers drop out.
G.
Gross margin
Revenue minus the direct cost of delivering it, expressed as a share of revenue. Shows how much each sale contributes before overheads.
GRR
Gross revenue retention. Recurring revenue kept from existing customers over a period, net of downgrades and churn but excluding expansion, divided by starting recurring revenue.
H.
HubSpot Credits
The usage currency for HubSpot's AI and other usage-based features. Bought up front in packs or pay-as-you-go.
HubSpot Solutions Partner
A firm in HubSpot's partner programme that sells, implements and supports HubSpot. Tiers run from Solutions Partner through Gold, Platinum and Diamond to Elite.
Human handoff
The point where an AI agent passes a conversation to a person, with the context needed to carry on without the customer repeating themselves.
I.
Integration reliability
The share of data syncs between connected systems that complete without error, with failures detected and fixed quickly.
K.
KPI
Key performance indicator. A metric a team is held to because it shows progress against a business goal.
L.
Lead response time
The time between a lead making contact and a person or agent replying. One of the strongest predictors of conversion.
Lead scoring
A method of ranking leads by fit and engagement so that sales works the most likely buyers first.
Lead velocity rate
The month-on-month growth rate of qualified leads. An early signal of future pipeline and revenue.
Lifecycle stage
Where a contact or company sits in the journey from first touch to customer and beyond. Agreed stage definitions are the basis of shared reporting.
LTV to CAC ratio
Customer lifetime value divided by customer acquisition cost. Shows how much value each unit of acquisition spend returns over the customer relationship.
M.
Managed operations
An ongoing retainer in which a partner runs and improves your HubSpot, data and agents after go-live.
Marketing ROI
Revenue or gross margin attributed to marketing, minus marketing cost, divided by marketing cost.
Marketing-sourced pipeline
The value of open and won deals whose first qualifying touch came from marketing activity, as defined by the attribution model a company has agreed.
MCP
Model Context Protocol. An open-source standard for connecting AI applications to external systems. HubSpot's MCP server lets authorised AI tools read and write data in a HubSpot account.
MQL
Marketing-qualified lead. A lead that meets the criteria marketing and sales have agreed show enough fit and interest to be worth sales attention.
MRR
Monthly recurring revenue. The monthly value of recurring revenue in force at a point in time. ARR is usually MRR multiplied by twelve.
Multi-touch attribution
An attribution model that gives credit for a deal to several touchpoints along the buying journey, not only the first or last.
N.
North Star metric
The single metric a company agrees best captures the value it delivers to customers, used to align teams around one number.
NPS
Net Promoter Score. A survey measure of loyalty based on how likely customers are to recommend a company. The share of detractors is subtracted from the share of promoters.
NRR
Net revenue retention. Recurring revenue kept from an existing group of customers over a period, including expansion and net of downgrades and churn, divided by that group's starting recurring revenue.
O.
OKR
Objectives and key results. A goal-setting method that pairs a qualitative objective with a few measurable results that show it was achieved.
On-time delivery
The share of orders or shipments delivered by the date promised to the customer.
Operating cost
The day-to-day cost of running the business or a function, excluding one-off investments.
Operating margin
Operating profit divided by revenue. A measure of how efficiently a business turns revenue into profit after running costs.
Order accuracy
The share of orders fulfilled correctly the first time, with the right items, quantities and details.
Organic reach
The number of people who see content without paid promotion, such as social posts or search results.
P.
Payback period
The time it takes for the cash returned by an investment to equal its cost. Shorter payback means lower risk.
PDPA
Personal Data Protection Act. Malaysia's PDPA 2010, amended in 2024, and Singapore's PDPA 2012, enforced by the PDPC, set the rules for collecting, using and transferring personal data.
Pipeline
The total value of open sales opportunities at a point in time, usually broken down by stage, owner and market.
Pipeline coverage
The value of open pipeline expected to close in a period divided by the revenue target for that period. Shows whether there is enough pipeline to reach the number.
Pre-arrival reach
In hospitality, the share of booked guests contacted before they arrive, for confirmations, upsells and requests.
Process efficiency
How much time, effort and cost a business process takes from start to finish, often measured as cycle time or cost per transaction.
Productivity per rep
Output per salesperson or team member in a period, such as revenue, deals or activities per rep.
Prospecting Agent
HubSpot's AI agent that monitors buying signals on target accounts and drafts personalised outreach.
Q.
R.
Referral rate
The share of new customers who come from referrals by existing customers or partners.
Repeat purchase rate
The share of customers who buy, book or visit again within a period. Also tracked as repeat guest, reorder or return visit rate.
Resolution rate
The share of requests closed as resolved in a period, often split by channel, team or AI agent.
Resolution time
The time from when a customer request is opened to when it is resolved, often tracked by channel, market and team.
Retention rate
The share of customers at the start of a period who are still customers at its end, excluding new customers won during the period.
Revenue by market
Revenue split by country or market, so leaders can compare performance and allocate investment across a region.
Revenue growth
The change in revenue between two periods, expressed as a percentage and often split by market, product or channel.
Revenue Hub
HubSpot's CPQ, billing and payments product on Smart CRM, and the evolution of Commerce Hub: quotes, contracts, invoices and payments.
Revenue per employee
Total revenue divided by headcount. A board-level productivity measure, often watched when AI changes how work is done.
RevOps
Revenue operations. Aligning marketing, sales and service on one process, one data model and one set of numbers, so growth can be measured and predicted.
ROAS
Return on ad spend. Revenue attributed to advertising divided by the cost of that advertising, for a campaign, channel or period.
ROI
Return on investment. The net gain from an investment divided by its cost, measured over a stated period.
S.
Sales velocity
How fast pipeline turns into revenue: number of opportunities, multiplied by win rate and average deal size, divided by sales cycle length.
Seat utilisation
The share of paid software licences that are actively used in a period.
Single customer view
One record per customer that holds every interaction across markets, channels and systems, instead of copies scattered across tools.
SLA attainment
The share of requests answered or resolved within the times promised in a service level agreement.
SQL
Sales-qualified lead. A lead that sales has accepted and confirmed as a real buying opportunity worth pursuing.
Stage conversion rate
The share of deals that move from one pipeline stage to the next. Shows exactly where deals stall.
System uptime
The share of time a system is available and working as expected, usually measured against a service level target.
T.
TCO
Total cost of ownership. The full cost of a system over its life: licences, implementation, integration, support, internal time and eventual replacement.
Time to value
The time between buying or launching something and first getting a measurable benefit from it.
U.
Unit economics
The revenue and cost of a single unit of the business, such as one customer, order or contract. Shows whether growth adds profit or loss.
V.
Vendor count
The number of separate vendors and agencies a function relies on. Fewer vendors usually means fewer handoffs and clearer accountability.
W.
Weighted pipeline
The value of open deals multiplied by the probability of each deal stage. A simple forecast of what the pipeline is likely to deliver.
WhatsApp Business Platform
Meta's platform for businesses to message customers on WhatsApp at scale. It connects natively to HubSpot's inbox on Marketing Hub or Service Hub Professional or Enterprise.
Win rate
The share of opportunities closed as won, out of all opportunities closed as won or lost in a period.
